I was deferred. Advice please?

I got deferred from Brown today. Now, I have a few questions.

They said I will hear back in March with the rest of RD applicants. Is there any chance they would admit/reject me earlier.

They said that the acceptance rate for deferred applicants is the same as RD. Is this true?

What can I do to increase my chances of getting in? What should I NOT do?

Brown is my dream school! The education offered here is beyond excellent! Any and all advice is appreciated

Thanks

1) No. You will hear back at the same time as everyone else. There is no other notification date.

2) Yes, it is. They really defer students because they want to see them again. They would not defer you if they weren’t interested in you.

3) Do: send an update letter when you get your 1st semester grades, and have your guidance counselor send those grades in. Update them on any recent accomplishments, and reiterate how you’re a great match for Brown.
Do not: send excessive numbers of letters, or send any new materials that aren’t asked for.

Thanks! Any other advice?

allforthebest - There is no magic formula for increasing your chances in the RD round. The advice that bruno14 gave you is the only advice there is. Like it or not, you’re now an RD candidate and will get the same consideration as everyone else in that round.

Meanwhile, January 1 is rapidly approaching, so the best thing you can do now is make sure that all your other applications are as strong as they can be!

For #3 (reiterate how you’re a great match for Brown) should that be in email form?

Here are some resources. Good Luck in RD!
