I was Dissapointed When I Checked the Mail

So I go to my mail box and I see this lil packet for USC and I'm just thinking well its quite medium sized so it's probaly not an acceptence letter but what if it is. It came out to be a letter talking about finacial aid with the guide to paying for college booklet.

Man I'm so confused with the process. I applied scholarship deadline and I see that people are getting accepted. Why am I going to the mailbox and getting mail about finacial aid? what's going on?

Did anybody else get that too and was just dissapointed?

what a relief to see i have a mail buddy- totally opened that little packet with feverish excitement to find a dime a dozen financial aid guide . . . ya it made me feel small and like i'm not gonna get a scholarship!!!

ROFL - The exact same thing happened to me 10 minutes ago. I came on here to post about it, saw your thread, and instantly knew what it was that disappointed you. :)

LOL! I just posted the exact same thread in the 2013 subforum. USC must enjoy playing with our emotions! lol!

Been there, done that. I remember last spring, several envelopes coming before the acceptance. I kept telling my son, at least it is not a rejection. Finally, acceptance letter came later in spring and never got a scholarship letter except "you were a strong candidate"

Just to let you know, last year the acceptance letter/folder came in a large envelope (9"x12"), white, with a yellow stripe at the bottom, with a "priority mail" stamped on it. I imagine it's the same this year.

hahaha.. at least you got that. I'm still stuck on prelim review with no mail from USC whatsoever.. yet..lol

so if you get that letter that means that you didn't receive the scholarship but are still considered for admissions? uggh thats kinda scary!

omg i got that letter in the mail today too!! my brother texted me while i was at school saying ur usc thing came in the mail...and i started sweating frantically
i called him and said open it *** is it a small or large envelope ...and he was like neither..its like medium-size lol

and yah......i told him to open it and it was just financial aid crap

ughghghhggh

I haven't gotten anything from USC!! They didn't send a letter verifying that you applied, right? I think I got one after I submitted Part I... don't think I got one after Part II... uh ohs I hope they have my application

You should have received one for part II as well.

Pinkie,
Did you make a copy of your application? My advice is to call the admissions office tomorrow during the business day, PT, and confirm your application did arrive. The number is: 213 740 1111.

Mm well I did it online... haha so it's okay right? I can see my status and stuff (I'm at completed prelim review). I just don't know why I didn't get a letter for Part II but I did for Part I even though I did both online. :T

Pinkie,
Good. Did it indicate if your teacher recommendations, SAT scores and all other necessary materials had also arrived?
I do not know where you live, but if it is out of California there are still letters of admittance being received.

Don't fret. I received my acceptance letter on Saturday, and on Explore USC website I'm going to interview for a presidential's scholarship. However, like you, I also received this financial aid guide today. This probably makes absolutely no difference, but I have not actually received my interview information by mail yet.

Are there anybody that did not receive this booklet? Does it signify anything?

I received acceptance letter but no booklet

the scholarship booklet doesnt seem to have any bearing on admissions status. i thought i wouldn't get an acceptance becasue of the booklet, but i got one today.

Well scholarship people hear first. Then you go in waves.
I remember I got my letter in like... March. (I applied for the normal deadline though) during spring break.

Got the letter, dated 01/22/09, and the booklet too. I applied before the December 1st deadline as well and my application is still under prelim review.
