I was wondering...

student council at my school... we've had the same people as our class reps since fourth grade. Don't say you just need someone else to run, they have, they loose... I was just wondering if this is the same at your schools...

Yep, and they are terrible at it.

I bet that none of them will run Sr. year, so they don't have to plan reunion's

i wish more people would answer

new elections every year.. i forgot to turn in my form last year and i couldn't run.. and i did this year.. and now you're looking at my high school's class of 2008 senior vice president

at my school, if you want to be a "representative" you just need to go to the first informational meeting. However, if you want to run for office, well, then you have to get votes. Just because other people have run and lost, doesn't mean you shouldn't try. Honestly, people in high school don't care how qualified you are to hold an office, they vote for their friends. So my advice to you, if you are considering to run in your school, is to make friends at the beginning of the year. Be outgoing in class, go to all the lame school events, and join a bunch of clubs, whether or not you have much interest in them. Establish connections and then when you are campaigning bring up the fact that you are more qualified then the current incumbents to hold office.

you really never know until you try.

same here, the same people every year who gets the votes but then does nothing and gets reelected next year

People actually listen to their student council? :O

does colleges not know that or they wouldn't value class pres so high, or at least, I would assume they do that

well, at my school is a crazy popularity contest...it changes EVERY year...people get really intense, give out really nice gifts ($5+ up for everyone!) to get votes

wow, I know people say to just try, but really, many people have.... even other populars... it's the same every year, sicne 4th grade...
