Im just curious about my chances for these schools rd. Northwestern (double legacy by grandparents), Wash U (my grandmother got her masters there... If that counts remotely), UCLA, Berkley, NYU, cornell, brown, dartmouth, emory, georgetown. Also because my courses are so much more difficult this year, my GPA is lower (3.83 or 3.88). Will this hurt my chances significantly? Thanks!

Personally, I don’t think your lower GPA this year will affect your chances at all. Of course, it would’ve been better if they stayed consistent. However, you have really good stats overall!! I’d say that you have high chances for UCB, UCLA, NYU, Emory and Georgetown, but I can’t guarantee you the rest (although you have good stats, ivy results are unpredictable )

You are definitely competitive at all of the schools that you mentioned. Berkeley, UCLA, NYU are good matches I think for you, but the rest are really iffy for anyone. But you are definitely a competitive applicant for them…

is your GPA for this year weighted or unweighted? Since the fluctuation in your GPAs makes sense due to the rigor of your current courses, I don’t think it’ll harm your chances.

are you in state or out of state for UCB/UCLA? If you’re out of state, it’s hard to say what your chances are.

I think you’ll get into NYU no problem.

Your ACT, GPA and EC’s all look good, which gives you a good chance for everything else, but like everyone else said, the rest can be unpredictable. Good luck!

I think you have excellent chances at all your schools, especially those with legacies. Competitive applicant, especially if you don’t ask for financial aid- are you planning to?

Thanks for chancing me. My school doesn’t weight GPA, so my unweighted GPA is decreasing even though my weighted GPA might not have decreased if my school did weighted GPA’s. Im out of state for all of these schools and I will be applying for financial aid at all of them.

Apart from Dartmouth, Brown and Cornell, where no one can be certain about…you’re a solid applicant to all other colleges…your scores are excellent, GPA is good, EC’s are excellent…just don’t screw up on the essays and get solid recos, you’ll do fine…you should get into UCLA and NYU without doubt, though I am not an authority in these matters…

Your test scores are stellar- very nice! You show good versatility with your extra-curriculars fulfilling the desire for a “well-rounded student”. Your GPA is not that bad, just let your passions shine through on your essays, it shows colleges that you’re more than a good test-taker! Good luck!

match for UCLA, NYU
High match-berkeley
reach-cornell, brown, dartmouth,
No idea about others…your scores are good, but slightly low for the ivy league…your SAT 2’s are excellent for all schools…and so are your grades…so put in brilliant essay, who knows you might get it.
Thanks @michaelite and @lifeishard for chancing me! Sorry @michaelite I would chance you but already did so in one of your earlier posts and didn’t notice anything significant in your new post to change your chances.

georgetown: High Match
Your application looks pretty solid! Although with some of the schools that well regarded it is kind of a crapshoot to guess anyone’s chances. However, your grades and SAT look pretty great. I think you’re in a really good place. Chance me back?
