Hey everyone, I was admitted for Winter 2009 as a transfer student into LSA. I will be attending as a second semester sophomore. I just have a few questions for current students, students who have transferred or anyone else with knowledge concerning these topics.

First of all, the language placement exam is vaguely described by UMich...Is is required? I know that all LSA students need to complete 2 years of foreign language...But I was planning to waive that requirement by testing out of a language later on(my native language...yeah I know its a cheap move..but whatever gets me through ya know?). The office of new student programs told me that you need to take the placement test if you have "previous experience" with a language. what the f does this mean? previous experience? I took 3 years of spanish in high school and none in college, so does this count as this so called "previous experience?" What happens if I dont take it?

Secondly, in my acceptance letter it says that I will need to send in my Fall 2008 grades from my previous university. One problem: My old school starts 5 days after UMich starts their winter term, so I wont be able to send in my fall grades before the term starts at UMich...will this hinder my progress towards taking classes?

Thirdly, I havent received the tradional "Big packet" of admission. Just one measly acceptance letter. Why?
Granted, I was accepted really late after being initially rejected..Its kind of confusing...Look up my thread "Is Michigan Messing with me" on the UMich portal of this forum. But I am admitted for sure. I quadruple checked.

Lastly, how are they expecting me to attend orientation on jan 5th and 6th, register for classes, move in, buy books, and prepare for classes when classes start on JANUARY 7th!!! How am I supposed to prepare for EVERYTHING in one day?

please shed some light
