I won't be held responsible for this, correct?

Sorry if I'm badgering this forum with my constant questions.

I come from Canada. Extra Curriculars play little to no role in a university application here, thus, high schools don't have many clubs, and none of high prestige. My dream is to apply and get accepted to Yale. Howeve, my school doesn't have anything like National Honors Soceity, Academic clubs like robotics, sciencd, math, and debate clubs. We have sports, which I am decently involved in, and we have the average year book committee, etc. You're not allowed to start clubs.

Not only does this make it harder for me to show passion and leadership, but my ivy dreams are near decimated. I actually created my schools yearbook entirely on my own, etc.

Academic wise, it isn't bad.

My next question is: Does being a low income student put you in an entirely different pool then someone who isn't? I mean, my family makes so little, it is difficult for me to enlist in any out of school extra curriculars... Will they acknowledge this when comparing me to someone with such wealth?

Anyone have any input?

Then do something outside of school, nearly all my ECs are outside of school. Club sports, make a website, volunteer somewhere, do something.
If your family makes so little and can’t afford to sign you up for sports anything, then how will you ever afford yale?

I’m not trying to crush your dream or anything, yet its hard to get into yale as an international alone, without even needing Financial aid.

Edit: And not all out of school ECs require money.

Can you give me some examples?

Yale’s financial aid is very good

Volunteer somewhere, a hospital. Volunteering doesn’t cost money. Apply for a job somewhere. Use the money gained from the job to sponsor another EC for yourself. Do something related to your prospective major? Whats your prospective major?

Since you’re an int’l some schools are need-aware for int’ls.

And…yes…many ECs are free…community service, volunteering at a church or homeless shelter, belonging to school clubs, etc.

^^ He just mentioned his school doesn’t have clubs.

Low-income is a slight hook, but they are not put into seperate pools than high-income. Its just another slight advantage.

My Intended major is something to do with science.

Probably biology.

My school does offer a co-op program where I intern a hospital, but that would affect my course rigor… I really don’t want that, unless of course, it looks good on apps.

Other than that, I don’t think you can volunteer at a hospital. The website says you have to be 18+, except you can collect magazine when you’re 14.

What else can I do? Your answers are greatly appreciated.
