Emory's transfer application deadline is June 1; the school says that it will make decisions within 2-3 weeks after this deadline. However, the majority of schools, including every other school I am applying to, require a response to their potential offer of admission BY June 1. I am sure I am not the only Emory transfer applicant; how can I be expected to decide on my other schools if Emory still hasn't even began reviewing applications?

I have the same problem! Is there anyone here who applied to Emory last year?/When did they actually send the decision?

On May 31, assume you will not get into Emory and select and accept the best of the offers you have received. If, two to three weeks later, you do get an offer from Emory, you can decline the previous offer. Be prepared to lose the deposit.

Ask for an extension from the schools that have accepted you. I know that I read on one school's website that they are aware that there are sometimes deadline conficts for transfers and to contact them if necessary.

okay, this seems more logical than the previous post. does anyone know why emory has such a late deadline? they claim to review applications on a "rolling" basis after the june 1 deadline has passed; but doesn't the fact that they have a deadline contradict their suggestion of "rolling" admissions?

This is also discussed on the Transfer Admissions 101 sticky thread. It is not an uncommon problem, not at all just an Emory problem, and there are two or three approaches to try.
