I would like safeties

My list is a little top heavy - my only safeties are UMiami (which I don't plan to attend.. I just applied for the heck of it) and VCU.

My SAT score is 2050 (780CR, 600M, 670W)
SAT Subject tests are: 700, Spanish; 720, US History: 690, Literature.
I have around a 3.8 UWGPA (not including Freshman Year).
My ECs are above average but not breath-taking.
I am a white male, first generation college student, from Virginia.
I think my essays are amazing.

Any suggestions? I need about an 80% of admission for my safeties.

Thanks - and I will return the favor in anyway I can!

Virginia Tech should be a reasonable safety.

Who changed the title of this thread? haha, I don't understand.

Thanks, Erin's Dad, but I'm trying to get out of Virginia. Tech just isn't for me.

what do you want to major in?

It's between philosophy or international relations. I would consider a double major.

If you're interested in international relations then look at Georgetown, GW and American.

Ruled out GW and American, I am applying to Gtown, but it's such a reach.

College of Charleston Cougars
Sewanee University of the South Tigers
University of Maryland Terrapins (since you want get out of Virgina)

Any other suggestions? My school's deadline for form requests is very soon!

I think you'd be a sure admit at the University of Pittsburgh, with merit aid in their Honors College. Their philosophy department is supposed to be quite strong, according to CC threads from last year. It's a public school with rolling admissions, so tuition is affordable and you'd hear before April 1st.

They have their own application (not the Common App), which is just one page long. If I remember correctly, the essay is optional (though I'd recommend it for merit aid consideration) and only one rec is required. It's in a neat section of Pittsburgh, adjacent to CMU. Great sports school - many cool things to offer.

I'm gonna second the University Of Pittsburgh, if you go, we'll be in the class of 2013 together!

I would sugest university of washington, or university of Alaska anchorage :)

Earlham, College of Wooster, Kalamazoo

I found my safety options through college matching sites. You can put in your GPA, test scores, etc. and get a list of schools that you match with. myUsearch.com, collegeboard.com and petersons.com are the best sites I've found.

U of Florida could be your safety. UF is everyone's safety in the state of Florida.

Any other ideas?
