Your Hispanic heritage will be your biggest hook. Hispanics are now the number one under represented minority on college campuses. I'd say you are almost guaranteed at Carnegi, Lehigh, and Rice. As for MIT, Stanford, Princeton, and Cornell- you have a really great shot, they love to accept Hispanic students-especially if you will be the first in your family to attend college.

quit it with the nazi talk. Anyone playa u got a good shot at all of them stanf/mit/princeton probably slight reaches. play up your minority status, another thing u have to ask is how far away do u want to go from home and what u would like to do, carnegie is a great school though

~80 percent for MIT <--- Not making up numbers either.

Vielen Dank. Dein Rat ist sehr behilflich!

You're biggest hook will be MITES, speaking from a MITES alum standpoint.

Anyone else? I'd appreciate more comments/advice!

You have a great shot at all seven schools...good luck!

personally i say you are at best a regular applicant. i don't know what these people are talking about, but even if you are black, you still have little chance for Prinston, Stanford, or MIT

First of all, I am mexican, but I agree with you that Princeton and Stanford might be reaches for me. However, I don't know if I should listen to a person who can't even spell Princeton right.

sats-730 verbal 690 math 710 writing total 2130
gpa 96.677777 weighted (school has weak weightings tho)
rank- 23/331

what are my chances at the ivies and equivalent schools?

boy654321, don't be so pathetic. if you came to acquire compliments, you've come to the wrong place. i gave you my opinion, isn't that what you are looking for? or are you looking for "OMG YOU ARE A MEXICAN, 100% in at EVERYWHERE"? grow up

Based on your stats and ECs, and considering your URM status:

MIT Big Reach
Stanford Big Reach
Carnegie Reach
Lehigh - Match
Cornell Big Reach
Princeton Big Reach
Rice Big Reach

I suggest that you consider some schools that are good, but less difficult to get into. Heres a few you might want to take a look at, assuming youre interested in tech, science, or math:

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
Georgia Tech
Union
Case Western
University of Rochester
University of Michigan
New Jersey Institute of Technology

Perhaps what you might want to do is apply to a couple of the reaches above your URM status might help you squeak in and then apply to a bunch of matches and safeties, particularly if youre interested in scholarship money.

I'll defend the OP. He wants many opinions because people are giving him such a broad range of chances. So I'll just give you some more advice: Apply EA to MIT; it's your best shot at one of the HYPSM (because of MITES), and you'll be happy, knowing you don't have to panic as much later on. Good luck!

hah what crazy person are you!? (referring to ^)

I thought I would give you guys an update! :-D
