I'm wondering what schools would be a great fit for me. I go to a small school in Iowa. Small=less than 100 students in my class. I have taken all college classes available and got A's. My only A- in high school was my sophomore year in Child Development/Parenting. I guess I'm not ready to be a dad yet!

ACT plus writing: 32

Will take SAT II in Math and either Physics or Chemistry

Want to major in engineering or something with business.

EC's: 4 year basketball player (Captain) (All-Conference multiple times), possibly a recruited athlete. I play year round. I also run track and play football. Started varsity in both of those as well. Involved in a student mentoring program at my school where I mentor young troubled students. I am in the Big Brothers program. I am a camp counselor during the summer at various basketball camps and a summer camp. I work at my parents local company doing maintenance work. This summer I am attending a leadership conference at a local University. I created a program in our school to help students know more about college options. I also started a student-run tutoring program at my high school. I will also be going to Guatemala this summer with my maintenance team to install elevators in run down schools along with helping out the classes. I was also named a DARE role model at our school.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

To get a rough idea of the types of schools you may want to consider I would try collegeboard’s college match tool. I found it to be pretty intuitive and comprehensive. Aside from that, your stats seem really good. Are you going to take the SAT or just the SATIIs. If not, just make sure that the schools you may become interested in do not require them. Luck!
**ps. I would love some help too; chance me back:)

Take a look at Hamilton, Vanderbilt, UChicago, UNC Chapell Hill, UWisconsin-Madison, Northwestern, and Duke. Those would be a combination of matches, high matches, and reaches for you, but you definitely have a shot at all of them.

I will just take the SAT II’s. The SAT isn’t a big thing in Iowa for some reason.

SATs seem to be more popular on the west coast than the Midwest, and only taking the ACT is fine. I’d definitely agree wig taking the SAT IIs though.

If you’re interested in schools on re wear coast you may want to look into some of the UCs (berkely [even though it probably a bit of a reach], and irvine [which is gorgeous in southern Cali if that’s important to you] ) also, you may want to look Ito the university of Washington. On the east coast, check out western new England college- they have a couple different programs where you can get business and engineering degrees at the same time by only staying in school an extra year (assuming allotted as planned) which might be a great fit for you based on what youre thinking another studying

Do you think if I took the ACT again and got a 34 or higher I could have a chance at Stanford?
