I wrote down a job I shouldn't have on my app. And I'm TERRIFIED.

I did one of the stupidest things possible. On my college app, I wrote down that I had a job that I was 95% sure to get. Little did I know, the job takes a 6 month process of volunteering to get. I found that out tonight. I sent the app online last week. The guidance department is currently processing my transcripts and such..I know I need to take care of this issue right away.

Most people have been telling me that they won't call that workplace, but I'm afraid that if the school has no record of a working paper, they will find it sketchy and call them up.

I don't want to get an automatic ****list from my dream school...

I haven't spoken with my guidance counselor yet. I need to schedule an appointment. But this is urgent, and I need all of the help I can get...much thanks in advance.

speak to your guidance counselor. it takes them a while to process stuff anyway (at least a week at my school).

good for you that you're actually taking care of the problem.

Same here...but the online application is sent directly to the school.

the college you mean?

First talk to GC. Then, if he agrees, either call the school or email them explaining your situation. Your reason for putting it down is quite understandable and I'm sure they won't penalize you for that. If they do, then that school maybe isn't worth it..:P

Just e-mail the school, explain to them what you told us, and ask them to take it off your app. What you did was understandable, and the college will understand if you ask them to remove the info. They won't understand if you don't tell them, but they find out you don't have the job.

So are you doing the volunteering? Then it looks like you were just jumping the gun on the job, not outright falsifying.

if you e-mail try and have the name of the admin counselor for your HS/area

let the school know for two reasons-

it tells them you are forthcoming and trustworthy
<and even="" if="" it="" doesnt..=""></and>

It lets you be an honest person.

I think that the school will be understanding and that you should let them know ASAP, you'll feel better and they won't think its wierd that you waited.
