IA Course Numbers for required courses

My daughter is taking classes at our local college this fall before enrolling in IA in Spring. She registered for classes last week before attending Preview at UF, because she didn't want all the good times to be gone. However, I'm wondering if some of the gen ed requirements might be fulfilled by the required IA classes. Specifically the humanities requirement. I know they need to take 9 humanities credits, 3 of which are that Good Life course and at least 3 of which are fulfilled by one of the IA classes. However, I haven't been able to find a list of ALL the IA classes WITH course numbers, to know if there is another humanities in there. She registered for one humanities class, so I'm wondering if that's a waste.

PLEASE don't just tell me she should have waited until after Preview. She didn't because she was hoping to get some classes that weren't at 7:00 a.m or 9:00 p.m., which is what she would have gotten if she'd waited an extra week to register at Dade. We don't have to pay for the classes until August, so she can change it around some if necessary. She may also take some online classes in UF Fall Connection, but she didn't want to take only the online classes because she wanted a reason to leave the house.

Anyway, if anyone has a list of the IA classes, WITH course numbers or knows which (if any) gen ed requirements these courses fulfill so she shouldn't take them, that would be really helpful. They used to have a whole schedule for each IA major up, but now, there is no link for that. Annoying.

Majors are listed under program plan (except for the School of Agriculture & Life Sciences, which from an earlier e-mail I think you mentioned your daughter is interested in).

[Available Majors - UF Innovation Academy](http://innovationacademy.aa.ufl.edu/majors.aspx)

I would have her e-mail the IA program. If it is gen ed courses that she is completing, they may suggest course numbers that she can complete at a local college (my son during fall took classes online AND at a local college, but the Fall Connection is not offering the same discount rate as last year). You can also look at the UF Catalog for the same major, or go to the website of the college she is ultimately interested in. We went on campus to the engineering department where they gave us the suggested course study.

The main thing is to not take “critical tracking courses” at a local college. She may have to take those at UF.

Good Life? I thought that course was for summer & fall admits. I know A LOT of IA students (class of 2016) and from what they’ve told me, they don’t have to take Good Life, but they do take a couple of innovation humanities classes for the Innovation minor. I don’t think these count as H credits. She can also get credits from AP/IB/AICE/CLEP exams and CC courses, like everyone else.

UF usually puts a list of available spring courses on the registrar’s website. However, since we are nowhere close to the Spring 2014 semester, the list has yet to be created. You can check it here towards the end of the Fall 2013 semester:

Also, use a website called GatorSchedule, which is a comprehensive search tool that I use for scheduling at UF. It relies on the UF schedule of courses though, so spring still isn’t available. Here’s the link for your later use:

Sorry I couldn’t help too much. In the mean time, you can check out UFBonita’s link to see what Gen Eds your daughter will naturally fulfill through the classes required for her major. She can also search for extra Gen Eds on ISIS. Good luck! :)
