So I'm #10 on the 30 person waitlist for IAS 45. There are 200 students maximum in the class. Do I have a good chance of getting in? The wait list is set manually if it matters.

The general rule of thumb is 10% of class capacity gets in - that means 20 would clear the waitlist. Being #10 is an excellent position in general.

The manual clearing might be an issue, if they are trying to pull in people in certain majors or other situations rather than clearing open registrants. When it is manual, it helps to search around on the department website to see if you can figure out who is handling the waitlist, then contacting them, or barring success with that contact the professor directly. They often prefer to clear someone who wants to take the class rather than someone who might not show up if they do put them into a seat.
