So I took this class over the summer and unless I pull an A in the take-home final my grade will probably be around a ~85% with the in-class final and without a curve. The thing is that the prof said that there is NO curve in the class and that we should help each other so everybody can get A's. Sure the class is not MCB status, but it sure is hard to get above a 90% on all assignments. I'm thinking that she is just saying that there is no curve just to so we work together and hope that she is bluffing. Anybody got any experience with Prof Niermann and her grading. People tell me that Upper div bio class don't have much of a curve, but at least they have somewhat of a curve.

This class is supposed to be one of the easiest UD genetics course in all of Berkeley, so I wouldn’t expect a curve. Did she give you the specific grade cut offs? the A cutoff can be less than 90

Some UD biology courses are curved, some aren’t. Of the UD biology I have taken so far IB C142 and C185 were curved and IB 162 wasn’t

The class actually covers pretty easy material, but she always puts tricky questions on the midterms/finals so it is pretty difficult to get above a 90%. The thing that ticks me off is that I think she said in class that she will “raise a B to A if you go office hours and the such” of which I did none as I never need much help understanding the material and it was near the end of the session. I feel like she should curve it across the board and not certain students, but oh well I guess that is how the ball rolls…

She’s bluffin’ with her muffins.
