Ib/ Ap Bio

How hard it it at your guys/ gals schools? What kind of work is involved, and how much does physcis and Chem get mixed into it? At my school it's without a doubt the hardest course available and it sucks!

It's the hardest AP course at my school as well.

IB Biology = easy

It's the easiest course at my school - in fact, I'm not even sure the textbook we're using is the correct one so I had to buy one myself.

:( :( :(

AP Bio is as hard as your teacher wants to make it.
that simple.
you got a teacher that likes to incorporate some chem and physics... im sorry

my ap bio class was a joke... hardly no physics... little chemistry... most was basic knowledge anyway

find out who the teacher is and ask other students what it is like

IB Biology SL = easy-ish compared to Chem SL and Physics SL

IB Bio HL = tougher and lots of memorization. Physics is barely tied in, whereas chemistry is, particularly when you get to biochemistry and/or ionization concering the nervous and muscular systems and whatnot.

Also, it seems IBO has a tendency to put IB History and IB Bio together during exam time. Two completely separate subjects, possible overlap on one day... It's frightening.

It's easier than bio honors, chem honors, physics honors, AP chem, and AP physics. It's harder than all the regular courses (which isn't saying much). There's no physics and minimal chemistry - just stuff like carb/lipid/protein/nucleic acid structure including like phosphate groups, sulfure groups, etc etc.

In essence, it's a joke. It's straight regurgitation of information; no analysis.

Actually there's a lot of analysis and "thought" questions for our AP class. To make it even cooler, we don't use a textbook. Well, we do have one but we haven't opened it once because she doesn't teach whats in the book. she gives us outlines and special notes to take. basically, if you miss 10 minutes of her lecture, your dead. I'd say we only get about 60% regurgitation, 40% using the concepts and applying them and tying them together--things we don't directly learn.

we got progress reports today, i have a 99, my average last marking period was a 100. its ridiculous. i don't do anything, except other class homework in there. there is so much availability for easy extra credit, and her tests, lectures, and everything else is a joke. I'm still going to study really hard for the exam in may, hoepfulyl geta 4 or 5 so it looks like i got a 99 in a rigorous class.

in essence, it is entirely on your teacher and the mentality of AP courses at your school...at mine...i would say it is a lack of mentality.

At our school, AP Bio is one of the hardest APs, but the easiest AP science.

But I have heard they actually learn something from the teacher.. then again, I've also heard that they haven't done a lab in months.
