IB applicants - is it a help?

Does anyone know how W&M views the IB diploma program in admissions? It seems like some schools really realize that it's a very difficult (and prescribed) program, while others don't seem to care much about the rigor. BTW, I don't mean does W&M give course credit - I can see that on the website - I mean how does IB diploma help you - it at all - for admissions. OOS male, 3.8uw GPA in IB diploma. Thanks

Yes, they take course rigor into account. I’m sure admissions understands it in a more nuanced way (its their job and they receive lots of IB applicants, after all), but I kind of view it similar to AP classes.

IB Diploma is the most challenging course load you can take. That is a plus.

Try googling IB diploma and William and Mary. I don’t remember exactly where on their website I read it, but I know for certain that they highly value the IB diploma and understand its significance.

Haha, glad I got the IB Diploma a year early. But yeah, I would say it is the most difficult course load, and seeing that William and Mary cares a considerable amount about rigor, I would say that it would indeed be a plus.

W&M considers the full IB diploma program to be among the most rigorous in which a high school student can enroll. Students who complete the IB diploma and perform well in their classes are viewed favorably. An IB diploma alone will not make anyone an admit but in terms of evaluating one’s academic criteria, IB diploma candidates who have done well will be look at favorably in that regard.
