I got a 5 on my IB HL Biology exam so I can place out of 1A and 1B, but somebody here recommended not to. I'm a pre-business major at the moment (will be transferring into ChemE for spring semester hopefully) and am hoping to do pre-med. I do have a strong background in biology, so would it be fine if I placed out of 1A and 1B or should I take them anyways?

Generally, medical schools want to see actual university biology courses, whether the introductory courses or more advanced ones (i.e. if you use AP or IB to place out of introductory courses, you will need to take an equivalent number of more advanced courses; note that there may be lab requirements). Check the various medical schools on what their policies are (you have time, no need to decide this right now).

Let me say this bluntly: Choose 1 and stick to it and if going into medical school is your ultimate goal, then you have to take 1 full year of biology at college. No APing/IBing/CCing!
