I'm wondering if there are any more specfic credit/placement policies from Duke online regarding IB tests than the rather vague "6 or 7 on HL tests," or if anyone has something anecdotal that would shed light on whether or not this policy varies between the tests.

I ask this because there are some tests like, AP BC Calculus, wherein Duke gives Math 31 as a credit for a score of 3 and Math 31/32 for a score of 4/5. Does this imply that a 5 on the IB HL Math test would merit credit for Math 31 also?

This question is more targeted towards those current students who had IB in high school and had to deal with credit issues themselves but I welcome anything that 'has been heard' by anyone regarding this as well. Thanks.

yeah i made a 7 on my hl math exam and got credit for 31 and 32. went straight into math 103 freshman spring, if i remember that long ago:)

a 5 on an AP test and a 5 on an IB test are two different things. a 5 for APs is the highest score whereas a 5 for IBs isnt. so yeah if you wanna test out of both make a 7 not a 5.

Yeah I know that a 5 is not the highest score on IB, I have taken IB tests lol. However, I guess I’m asking specifically about math here, I see myself getting a 5-6 on HL math because that test is brutally hard and am just wondering if, because an AP BC 3 merits credit, a IB HL 5 would as well. I’m not taking about credit for both Math 31/32 necessarily, just some credit.

Basically is Duke inflexible with their “6 or 7 earns credit” policy for IB?
