Is it worth it to try to do well on the IB tests, or should you focus more on the APs if you want Duke credit?

Do well on both. Don't think of these things when you are taking the tests. Just do the best that you possibly can on both and see how things play out after you get your scores.

i think u can only get credit for 2 classes (AP + IB combined) unless u declare that you want to graduate early.

i personally am lazing off a lil bit and just taking the tests based on what i've learned throughout the year.

Well i mean you get duke credit for a 6 or 7 on higher level IB tests... and normally AP for a 4 or 5 (though sometimes just a 5)... I would say a 4 on an AP may be slightly easier than a 6 on an IB... partially depends on your test taking strengths and such.

^^ I definitely agree. I'm taking a bunch of AP and IB exams this year, but I'm trying to focus more on my AP tests (although it would be nice to get my IB diploma). They are a whole lot easier than HL exams and even some SL exams (Chemistry anyone?)

yeah... im having trouble motivating myself for the IB Diploma... though I have this irrational fear of Duke coming to my dorm a month into classes and being like "yeah... turns out you didnt get your IB diploma so your admission is revoked... sorry"

Haha, same! I'm really only worried about HL Bio, though. Out teacher was terrible.

Do NOT underestimate the Biology HL exam. That was the trickiest IB exam I took, I think. Except maybe English because it was so subjective.

Heh I am SO glad I'm not taking the HL Bio exam this year. I'm in the class, but I had too many exams...and the HL Psych exam looks so much easier.

Why in the world would you not get the full IB diploma if you are so close? It is an accomplishment that will be/should be noted long after HS and even when it is time to apply to grad school. It's not just a bunch of APs cobbled together.
