IB Diploma after May 1 deadline

I searched for this answer, but came up empty. D19 may apply to international schools, which require an IB Diploma, and
some have a minimum score too. But she won’t know her results until July 6. In this situation, is it OK/ethical to commit to
a US school by May 1, but if she does obtain the required IB diploma and/or score, cancel her US commitment? She does not want to take a gap year.

Could this be possibly looked at similar to getting off a WL scenario? OP’s D commits to an US school she is admitted to and then decline if her IB scores should meet the international school’s requirement.

As long as she is only committed to one school at a time, it is okay. If she was accepted to the International school in July, she would rescind her acceptance to the US School and then accept the new one.

Predicted IB grades are commonly used on applications in Canada and then the student follows up with their actual grades once received. Schools still make their offers in April/May. Not sure how that would work in other countries though.

@bopper - Thanks, very helpful!

Do keep in mind that you may lose a housing deposit, but that should be under $1000.

     Committing to one US school and not attending is fine, you will lose any deposit money but that is all. Just make sure you withdraw in a timely manner if you have had to commit to courses etc.
