IB Diploma Help A New User?

Hi all, just registered an account after lurking for quite a bit, I was wondering if you guys had any experience or knowledge as to how IB predicted scores for the diploma are used by US colleges, particularly those in the top 25? I'm international and my school doesn't use GPA.

Thanks for any information!

At top universities, such as Ivy League universities, a 39/42 predicted score is looked upon well.

Though your school does not translate it into GPA, sometimes the schools will do it for you, such as UPenn. They use the following scale.

7 - A+ (4.0 UW, 5.0W)
6 - A (4.0UW, 4.0W)
5 - B (3.0 UW, 3.0 W)

I’m not sure about the rest.

Thanks, that was a great help. I see you’re kinda new too. Any one else have GPA scales for other schools? I’m predicted 39-40 now so fingers crossed :)

First, make sure your school predicts for the US - for example, mine doesnt. That actually sometimes makes more sense - the college/univ can decide upon my transcript and there’s less of uncertainty.

Thanks for the heads up, my school does predict for US.

bump… any more info anyone?

39/42 - is that the minimum or a “good” score for selective schools?

I emailed Brown a while back and their response was along the lines of “Brown likes to see 39 before the bonus points are added in, with 7s at higher level.” From that, the fact that they “like to see” means that it is a score that is at least above average, and impresses them.

That threshold can probably be applied to all other Ivy League/top universities.

the place to go, to discuss topics like these :)

Thanks, but I’ve posted there already haha, I would think this is more of an admissions issue rather than an IB issue since its to do with GPA, and this forum is more accessed so it might help more people in my shoes as well.
