I am an international student. I was admitted to UT Austin. I also did the IB Diploma but the only problem is I didn’t get a diploma. You need a 4 in all you HLs- I got 4 in 2 of my subjects and 3 in physics where I missed the next grade by 1 mark (I am on the grade boundary). I sent it for re-evaluation but my grade did not increase.
I have a certificate that states I have graduated from my school though.
What’s the possibility of my offer by rescinded? And, is there a chance of a provisional admission where I can take a re-test in October?
I don’t know for sure. But I think it won’t matter. To me It’s like not passing an Ap exam senior year. It’s the grades along the way and graduation without failing classes or getting into trouble
I suspect you will be fine if you have a diploma from your high school. The bigger problem seems to be non-U.S. Schools that want the IBD as the degree. Those are usually explicit about the acceptance being conditioned on being awarded the IBD.
If your acceptance letter didn’t have any wording like that, I wouldn’t worry.
@privatebanker@gardenstategal I was doing the IB Diploma Programme. So technically my high school diploma would be my IB Diploma. However, there were no conditions on my acceptance letter
A certificate that says you graduated is a diploma. American students who do the IBD get a high school diploma from their school as well as their IBD. Two diplomas. You met the graduation requirements of your school, but not of the IB board. Not uncommon.
Is there a high school diploma option for students who have not successfully completed the IBD requirement?
Would your non-completion of the IBD diploma allow you to register for college in your home country?
Will your transcript state that you have graduated and received a diploma. If you have not received a high school diploma, then yes, your admission can be rescinded.
eta: certificates are issued to indicate completion of diploma courses and exams for non-diploma candidate students.
In the US, especially if you attend public school, you receive a diploma based on meeting your state’s requirement for credit accumulation and exams. IF you complete the requirements by your state to be awarded a diploma, you will receive your hs diploma even if you are in an IBD program and you don’t complete the requirements for an IB Diploma.
Only the International Admissions Office there can give you an accurate answer. Contact them and verify any additional documentation that you might need.
