IB Diploma students....

I'm just being curious here but what HL and SL courses do you take?

as for me,
HL: English, French, Music, Economics
SL: Biology, Math

HL: English, World History, Biology
SL: Math, Chemistry, Physics, French, Computer Science

anyone here taking the IB in november?

or you guys take in May?

I'm doing the exams in May.

HL: Maths, Physics, English A1
SL: Economics, History, German

may for me

I'm a May 2006 candidate taking the bilingual diploma. I did write two exams this year though - Maths and Biology.

HL: English A1, European History in French, Chemistry
SL: French A2, Math Methods in French (7), Biology (6)

hl: chinese, economics, maths and history
sl: chem and english

im taking the NOV05 exam and i have my last week of official school next week!! funny because we have started writing essays for the text exams yet!!-_-

cowgirlatheart, I'm taking French/English bilingual, too.

HL: English A1, French A1, Chemistry
SL: History, Art, Math Methods

I'm May '07.

IB rules! lol =P

please tell me that was sarcasm.

HL: English (BOO), European History, Mathematics (BOO)
SL: French, Latin, Environmental Systems

Yeah, I kind of dislike my higher levels... but we don't get much wiggle room.

HL: Economics, History, Biology, Maths
SL: English A1, Finnish B2

I see that many of you are taking four HLs--is it really that common? At my school, the counselors actively discouraged it, to the point of refusing to consider it when I asked. (This was not for reasons concerning me personally, but as a general policy.)

its common in some schools and not common in others (like mine), depends on the counselors i suppose. because you dont get any extra pts for taking higher level, so u r taking a bigger courseload for nothing. but i think for int'l schools, some ppl are already bilingual and so can do two languages higher level without too much stress...for other schools, i think it is just hard for them to do the timetables to accomodate u...

That makes sense, yes. Thanks. :)

most pple do 3 at my school. i think only a handful do 4. 5 is absolutely discouraged.

for me,
HL: math, chem, bio, japanese
SL: english, econ

I thought 5 HLs was not even allowed by the IBO? Or are you talking about doing an extra certificate as a HL subject?

This is the first year my school is even offering 4 HLs, so most people in French aren't taking it (actually everyone except one kid), because it means taking Math HL in english, thus foregoing the Alberta bilingual diploma. There are a bunch of people in the english program taking it, but what can I say... they went golfing with their HL math teacher over the summer. Enough said.

chinese/english bilingualll

HL: math, physics, economics
SL:ChineseA1, English A2, ITGS(joker subject -.-)
the only 4 hl in my year is ppl tht does chinese B as an extra high (simply because A2 standard is too hard)

not sure about 5 HL being forbidden...but i remember a graduate diploma student doing 5..
