IB Exam Scores

Just out of curiosity, are your Official IB Exam Scores used for anything other than college credit?

I actually think I'm going to do well on them (as predicted), and I've continued to work hard throughout my senior year, but I'm just a little burnt out and not so highly motivated to study this last week before exams. :)

So, do your actual IB scores matter AT ALL for US colleges? Do AP scores matter? Or is it just your final report card?

Thanks!

Depends. Haven't colleges given you a limit that you have to have surpassed in order to attend college? And if not, bear in mind that Advanced Standing is a great advantage, allowing you to take even graduate level courses. Of course it is very hard to meet the criteria for advanced standing.

the college i have chosen only awards credit for higher level courses.

and no, i don't have a conditional offer--they only do that in the UK!

They don't do this only at the UK. Not necessarily. I've heard of cases of conditionals in the states as well. And only HLs are considered to be eligible for advanced standing. For example,

Students who have earned the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma with a grade of 7 on at least three Higher Level examinations may also qualify[for advanced standing].

at Harvard http://www.fas.harvard.edu/%7Efdo/publications/advancedstanding0607/general.htm

i stand corrected! but i'm not conditional (thank god...), and i can only receive credit for my higher level subjects at JHU.

the credit conversion chart can be found here: http://www.jhu.edu/admis/faqs/apib.html

i guess this is the same as "advanced standing", but it only works for a few subjects. ill try to get credit in chem and math, but they don't offer anything for english! so what's the purpose in stressing about the other subjects?

buuuuuuuuuuuuump help me people! do IB scores matter?!?!?!

lol chill out. if you read correctly, i was just asking if they were really worth stressing out about. don't jump to conclusions so easily.

just pointing out that no one is ever rescinded based on their AP scores. what's the difference here?
