Hello. I am an international student on a gap year, applying probably for a STEM major. I did the IB Diploma; got 42 points, but my EE in Mathematics was a C (there are multiple justifications such as inability of supervisor to offer proper feedback etc. which I wouldn’t want to get into as they are inconsequential now.) My worry is that admissions officers, particularly those at superprestigious universities like Cornell etc. will look at that C and immediately discard my application and put it into the rejection pile. Should I be worried? Is this a likely scenario? Is there something I can do to prevent this? Am I making mountains out of molehills? I’d appreciate it a lot if someone could help me out with this.
Does your transcript show your score in EE? If you were a senior grade applicant, your grade in EE wouldn’t be on your transcript. I am not sure what happens when you graduate. In any case what US schools firstly take into consideration is your GPA and course rigor. They wouldn’t care much about your final IB score (unlike UK universities). You will enter your IB exam scores on your own on a different part of your application and there is no place to enter your EE score (again if I’m not wrong).
Either way, you are not obliged to report your EE if it is not part of your current transcript. Even if it is on your transcript, it is not the end of the world.
Good luck.
