IB MATH and Ap CALC

Is the IB MATH HL more rigorous than say AP CALC BC, and does it cover more material and such ? which would be better to take for a strong math minded study who is science oriented

study should be STUDENT lol, ><

IB HL covers more than AP BC, including statistics and i think non-euclidean geometry. HL would most likely be a 2 year course, whereas BC can easily be done in one year.

so should i take IB MATH if i wanna go into engineering ?

i would appreciate it if anyone could give me the full syllabus for IB MATH HL so i can compare it to CALC BC or STATS AP and such

I dunno about the syllabus, but if you want to go into engineering, take IB Math if that's all you have. You can kind of compare it, but it isn't like taking Calc BC/Stats AP. You're probably taking tid-bits from each kind of higher math.

I finished IB1 Math HL (doing IB2 next year), and I can tell you what I know so far...

IB1:
Calc AB (Chapters 1-5)
Area between two curves
Volume of a solid of revolution
Complex Numbers (e.g. De Moive's theorem, modified De Moive's)
Probability (discrete, continuous, binomial, poisson distr., normal distr.)
Vectors (2D and 3D)
Matrices

All this stuff that may seem like precalc is actually quite advanced, and WAY BEYOND PRECALC.

IB2:
Series stuff
Further Math stuff (i don't really know the specifics...)

So yeah, IB Math is harder than Calc BC. IB has more breadth, so it takes two years to cover all the depth of the Calc BC course (but it still covers it).
