I was wondering if college admissions know that IB Math HL is a calculus class? I thought that it could be confusing because the class name doesn't have the word 'calculus' in it. Thanks in advance!

haha you are fine man. MATH HL IB is a very rigorous course overall and 99.9999 percent of colleges recognize what it is so yes you will be fine even if the IB system doesn’t work by naming their maths haha.

Yea, I mean it is only their job
IB is widely recognized.

even IB maths studies has calc I think. I took SL and there was A LOT of calculus

US universities that accept IB for subject credit usually consider IB math HL to cover a year of frosh calculus. But they typically do not consider IB math SL or IB math studies SL for any subject credit, though they contain an introduction to calculus.

At my school, IB Math SL was a two year sequence of courses called “Pre-Clac IB” and “Calculus IB.” We used an AP Calc book. I got a 5 on AP Calc AB after the class. With Math HL, you will be more than fine.

Here’s a tip, randomuserid: people who work in a field (e.g., college admissions) don’t feel flattered when you speculate about whether they might be ignorant of fairly basic information in that field.
