IB Math HL Wharton?

Hi,

I’m a rising senior and am planning on applying to Wharton ED this year. Despite the fact that I am in the top 10% of my class, am fairly active and have leadership positions, I am taking Math SL in IB. How badly will this affect my chances of admission assuming that the other aspects of my application are fairly well (unique)?

I moved from a poor school to a better equipped one for my freshman year and started off with a math grade of 69%, later bringing it up to an 89% – however, I was not allowed to take mathematics higher level for IB due to my previous performance. I’ve capped my junior year off with a 93% in IB SL mathematics (7/7 predicted) and a 750 in the Math II exam, with a 740/800 for my SAT.

If it’s any help, I have a ton of work experience in a business environment and have worked in financial offices (including national banks) every summer since the summer of 8th grade.

Do I have any chance for Wharton, or should I just apply to Amherst or Dartmouth ED (which I would apply to RD if rejected by Penn) for less of a risk?

If I do apply, how would I go about explaining my situation to the University of Pennsylvania – teacher recommendations??

IB Math HL. is equivalent to Calculus BC. It should be good enough for Wharton.
