Hey everyone. So I am finishing up my freshman year and it's time to pick courses for next years. My school offers both IB program and a selection of AP courses. If I take full IB, I can still manage to do AP Psychology, AP World History, and AP Spanish, and I will also attempt taking AP Chemistry, Calculus, and Biology exams because l've heard that a lot of stuff in those courses overlaps with IB HLs (Bio, Chem, and Math will be my HLs for sure). If I don't take full IB, I can take up to 6-7 APs throughout my high school experience: AP Psychology, AP World History, AP Spanish, AP Calculus, AP Statistics, and AP Language and Composition. My dream school is UC Berkeley and I am planning on studying Psychology. Do you think taking full IB would be a good choice (my teachers say I'm well-rounded)?

Is IB not allowed only for grade 11 & 12 students in your school? Grade 10 is still IB Middle Years.

Yes, it’s allowed only for juniors and seniors, but we need to pick courses because my school is situated in Ukraine and we don’t have enough people to fill in all IB and AP courses offered, so we make our first choices and then the school decides courses that will be available for next years.

Colleges don’t really prioritize one over the other. You will be fine either way

The IB Diploma is very highly regarded. Pursue it if you can!
Best wishes for your studies!

Thank you!
