Hey guys! So a little background: I applied to a HADES school this spring, and got waitlisted. I'm 95% sure it was the FA that did it, because my essays, recs, and other qualifications such as grades, test scores, and ECs were all really good.

The prospect of going away is sounding really good again, and I was wondering if you could suggest some boarding IB programs which have generous endowments and can offer financial aid. I really don't care how rigorous the application process is! Also, I'm looking at everything, so feel free to suggest international schools!

Thanks so much!

The George School, a Quaker school in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, that is about 56% boarding, has offered the IB program for around 25 years. Kids can do the full IB diploma or take individual IB courses. The school also has generous financial aid. (Around 47% of families receive some kind of financial aid.) Several years ago the school received the largest bequest to any secondary school in U.S. history: 128.5 million over twenty years from alumna Barbara Dodd Anderson. Ms. Anderson recently passed away, leaving 30 million more to the school. Very few U.S. boarding schools offer the IB. Good luck in your search.

Wow! That certainly is a large donation! I know there is one in Wales, but to be quite honest it seemed a tad too outdoorsy for me. Thank you so much for your suggestion!

i would recommend looking into the UWC (united world college) program. they’re boarding schools all over the world with an IB curriculum and you apply through your country board and get placed into an UWC. certain schools are entirely full-scholarship (ie pearson, on vancouver island). most UWCs start in grade 11, seeing as IB is a 2 year program.

You might want to look into Wellington College here in the UK. It offers the IB program, and from it’s website, it seems to offer scholarships and bursaries. The fees are a tad less then the US boarding schools too.

All US students at UWC schools receive a full scholarship to any of the 13 UWCs, all of which are IB schools.
