Question for fellow IB kids: If I'm going to ultimately get an IB diploma, is there any real point to getting the IB MYP certificate?

This is in the context of college admissions btw.

Good luck! I don’t have an answer for you, but am towards the tail end of the IB program and it sucks… lots of work and I don’t really think it’s worth it

not necessarily no.
but your MYP classes may be more challenging? I dunno, it depends on how your school cooperates it. At my school MYP is mandatory and DP is optional. MYP was pretty easy, and fun. You get to do a personal project, which helps set the stage for the skills needed to carry out the EE, should you choose to do full diploma.

Why not get your myp diploma? I felt the myp program gave me a good foundation for the diploma program. Though I admit some things were rather dull, if your going to take the classes then get your diploma. Plus I always felt that quitting the program would show that I didn’t have much commitment or perseverance to complete what I started.

MYP has no bearing in college admissions, if that’s what you’re asking.

It’ll prepare you [sort of] for the bullsh* IB makes you go through to get your diploma though.
