IB & SATs

Will universities place the emphasis on my SAT scores, or will they actually consider my IB scores over the SATs? I didn't do so well on the SATs, but I do have a high IB predicted grade... should I consider redoing the SATs?

well, schoolws down south in texas and florida tend to like the IB a lot so if you are applying to schools there you dont need to retake. your IB predicted grades matter a lot more than the SAT scores, because, well, it shows how well you've been doing in high school overall, not just on a test.

hmm at least somewhere in the states the IB is recognized/respected. And Im applying to florida ^^
Other states on the other hand... (east + west) dont recognize the IB for admissions AT ALL. Thats been our experience when we toured their campuses.

So does that mean that top schools in the east, such as Yale or Harvard, do not consider our IB scores at all?

Many schools recognize and value the IB program. Most selective schools will give credit for good scores on the IB tests as they do for good scores on AP tests. But I don't know how they consider IB "predicted" scores in admissions. Perhaps not at all. This is a question for the admissions office of the colleges you are thinking of applying to.

If the other top colleges have similar policies as Duke, which I assume they do, then IB predicted scores are mostly used for international applicants. If your SAT score is genuinely low (as opposed to low by CC standards), you have three options:
1) Retake the SAT
2) Take the ACT
3) Consider test-optional colleges

If you're a senior, presumably you have at least some SL exam results to report. Good scores on actual exams will help you a bit more than predicted scores, I think.

thanks...i AM an international student lol, so I was hoping that schools would put more weight on the IB instead of the SATs...
