IB scores ok?

Hi, I received my IB scores and I have got "only" 6 on both Math HL and Physics HL. I was wondering whether this was still ok for MIT. Any experience? I have got 41 points in total by the way.

6 in Math HL is impressive in my opinion! .. I only got 37 with 5 in Math, Chemistry and Physics (all HL), I'm wondering if my score will be sufficient though..

OySo, are you applying to MIT? In fact, I have no idea what a competitive IB score would be. The thing is that I am primarily doing the German Abitur as high school degree. The IB is just an extra qualification. I think it should be ok.

Here is a webpage for the Class of '10 listing what credits will be awarded for IB scores in various subjects. As with AP scores, IB scores are not required for admission but will earn a matriculant advanced standing in some courses.

Credit is awarded for a Math HL score of 6 or 7, but Physics HL score must be 7 to earn credit. (There is also info on that page about credit awarded for German Abitur exams.)

(PS: You do know that to apply you need to provide SAT I scores and a science and a math SAT II score, right?)

Thanks mootmom, I saw this one. So a 6 in Math HL should be fine, right? I mean, the IB was only a supplementary degree for me, I concentrated on the German Abitur. I was just curious how other guys applying to top colleges did on their IB exam.
BTW, I have 800 on both SAT Physics and Math IIC.

getting a 7 on an IB exam is friggin crazy insane. My school only has SL math and physics classes, so i wouldnt be getting credit -not that i would've with my scores, anyways. However, i got a 5 on both the AP physics B and Calc BC tests.

a quick question, do you guys need 3 or 6 HL classes in order to get the IB diploma? and what do you guys learn in HL math and physics?

qwertz: u need 3 or a max of 4 HLs to get the diploma, not all HLs, im taking Physics, HOTA, English and Music HL, and i took Math (7), we only offer SL, boo, and Spanish (6) SL.

cant answer ur second question, sorry :)

We learn a lot of things in Math HL. I think it really differs from SL here.
So there is basically everthing you would want to know in order to have a pretty solid math background: calculus, probability, statistics, differential equations, etc.

So I guess I am pretty fine with 6, right? Ah well, I know that I could have got the 7, the exams weren't that difficult.
