So I have recently been accepted to UC Berkeley, and I noticed that in the contract, it stated that I must send ALL of my IB scores to the school. Do the IB scores I get in any way affect my admission to this school? For example, will Berkeley rescind me if I make 1s (hypothetically speaking) on all my IB exams? I'm extremely stressed about this. Thanks for the help!

No…10char

No.

Even if you fail all your IB exams (knock on wood) you will still be able to study here.

However, doing well gets you some credit and also waives a few requirements, which can be nice. For example I was able to get out of both R1A and R1B (the writing requirements) with my English HL score.

Is there any proof for this? Like anyone out there that can attest to this fact? I’m currently having the same stress-related issue as programmerguy.

If there were a minimum grade per test or in total, it would be in the conditions. Most have a requirement to earn at least a 3.0 UW each of the two semesters of senior year, as well, no grade can be below C.

No numeric requirement, then no condition. The only condition you are held to is related to the rigor of your planned senior year workload - they judged you compared to others based on the type and number of courses you said you would take. Sending the grades affirms that you took what you said you would (as well as what you listed as already taken).

The proof is in the exact wording of the conditions of acceptance.

Are you guys sure 'bout this? Does this mean that even with a low IB score (let’s say 28/45), your offer of admission will still be intact? Because they do say that you have to have an average of a B so what does this mean on an IB scale (1-7)? 5? 4?

@Agneisse: What score did you need to achieve on the English HL exam to fulfill the writing requirement?

x.sunny: 5 or above will do. This is for L&S and CNR.
Engineering forces you to take R1B at Berkeley but you can still get out of R1A by getting a 5. http://coe.berkeley.edu/students/current-undergraduates/requirements/hss-humanities-current-list/HSS%20NEW%20REQ.pdf

saywhatsaykobe: If you are in the US you get course grades from your high school which are not dependent on your IB exam scores (because the latter come out too late for them to count) so it really doesn’t matter what you get on your Diploma, what matters is your GPA/high school grades.

For what it’s worth, my teachers both years had been telling me I would be lucky to get a 4 in English A1 (I am just really bad at “analyzing literature” and only took HL because my school didn’t offer SL) and had been grading my coursework/presentations as such, but shockingly I got a 6, so 1) IB examiners are crazy and 2) the exams are easier than you might expect :)
