IB tests are next week and I have completely slacked off, gotten uberexcited for college, and so yea, I'm gonna do pretty miserably in comparison to my predicted score, which was 41-42 out of 45. Realistically speaking I will probably end up with a 34-36 depending on how well I do.

Does Tufts care about IB scores and your results (other than receiving credit)? Will they ask for them to be sent?

Actually, Tufts doesn’t accept IB credits as far as I know. Just AP. On the one hand, that’s unfortunate because you won’t get credits, but on the plus side, no worries about the tests!

No, I’m pretty sure Tufts does accept IB credits… page 40 of the Bulletin: “Tufts does not grant credit automatically for the diploma as a whole; rather, acceleration credit is awarded for each subject passed at an appropriate level. No more than nine credits total will be awarded.”

Now how does that work exactly? Do you have to petition for credit, whereas AP is automatic? I have friends who aced IB tests and definitely did not receive credit for them. Did they just fail to do something they were supposed to?

Tufts does accept IB scores. If you have received the acceptance package (Which you should have), on the last page of the blue booklet, Tufts has provided what credits they offer for what IB scores. It is the same as AP. Get a certain score, get the credits for it.

Meh. You don’t HAVE to come in with advanced standing. Lots of folks don’t. All it means is that you’ll have to get a natural science credit the old-fashioned way. There are tons of courses that’ll satisfy it, and a lot of them are quite interesting.

Got waitlisted from Tufts, sent in my deposit to Purdue (i’m majoring in civil eng.) and today tufts accepted me (through my counselor)…

During this whole time i’m just slacking off, knowing that i’ll go to purdue, but now tufts decision comes, in the middle of the IB exams and I dont know how the deviation from my predicteds is going to affect tufts. I had a predicted of 34-35 and now i feel I’m writing 5’s in all subjects, which will give a mediocre final grade of around 30-31.

I do not think that they can practically withdraw their decision unless you do not get the IB diploma in the end, but I think that they can put you under some kind of academic probation, which is not such a good start…

I’m now considering Tufts as my first choice.

P.S.: I don’t know how i got into tufts with a 34-35 in the first place… I don’t have stellar SAT’s either (I’m an International btw.).

Are you folks in the U.S.? If so, colleges look at your actual grades, and not your predicted IB scores. It’s not like some other countries, where universities grant admission conditionally based on predicted IB scores. U.S. colleges essentially treat IB scores like AP scores.
It may be somewhat different if you are an international student. Did Tufts say that your admission was conditional based on final IB scores measuring up to predicted scores?
