I’m interested about the conversion of IB scores to GPA. Are my semester grades getting converted to GPA or my exam scores? My semester grades average at about 5.6/7, whereas in my exams I’ve achieved 41/45. It is important for me to know which of these will be considered to a greater extent since I will base my college choices on that.
Have you graduated HS, or are these your projected grades?
If you are in HS, then the marks on your transcript are more important to colleges. In terms of how to convert to GPA - you don’t. You match the GPA reported on the transcript.
I have already graduated and this is the actual total exam score I’ve achieved. What is more, our teachers always told us our semester grades do not mean anything (that is why they are so low) and universities will only request exam scores. However, it seems it is not the case with US institutions, thus the reason I am asking.
Here is the problem. US schools want a “transcript” and the transcript that IB schools produce shows the term grades. My daughter has a transcript with term grades and a separate paper with official IB predicted grades.
Your final IB score is great - I’m sure universities will appreciate the 41. No need to convert to a GPA.
Do you have a copy of your HS transcript as well? If you have to submit it, then they will see term grades. But ACTUAL final IB grades will be more important I would think.
Yes, I can request my HS term grade transcript at any time. It’s just a shame my term grades are so low and I have allowed myself to perform badly due to uneducated assumptions of our teachers that ‘term grades do not matter in IB’. I am an international student as well so applying to US institutions was unfamiliar to me up until not so long ago.
