IB subjects VS SAT 2 subjects

Hey guys, I'm an international student taking the IB diploma. Without a doubt, the IB diploma is strenuous and mind-boggling. What once was a unrecognized program is now becoming one of the most revered highschool program as it offers students broad and challenging courses.

The IB really takes alot of any student's time and apparently, if you receive a good score you dont have to take the first year of that certain course.

So... do i really need to take SAT 2s?
If so, can all of you recommend me some colleges that accept just the IB and SAT 1 scores?

I made my questions broad to suit most of the IB students. Cheers!

yes. if the school says you need to take the SAT IIs, you take them. Most ppl here take AP tests, which are as 'mind-boggling' as the IB tests. Nevertheless, schools still want us to take SAT IIs.

PS: I doubt there are any schools that exclusively accept just the IB and SAT I scores... but I might be wrong. At least, I havent seen a single school saying the AP test scores + SAT I are enough for admission. If the U.S. based AP isnt enough, IB certainly wont be given a priority over the AP (I am by no means saying IB is easier than AP. Simply that AP is more used in the U.S. than the IB)

The IB tests cannot substitute for SAT IIs. They can be used for placement.

However, there are many schools that do not require SAT IIs. And there are many schools that will accept the ACT (usually with writing) instead of both SAT I and SAT II.

Review the websites of the each school to see its own admissions requirements.

thanks for the sage advice guys!

IB scores are irrelevant to your application, same as AP scores. They only come into play after you're accepted and try to redeem credit for them. All that matters when considering AP and IB is that you took the class and did well.

SAT IIs are required by some colleges for admissions, so you have to do them if they want them. I recommend taking ones that coincide with the classes you are taking that year. (example: If you're taking IB world history, take the SAT II in world history when you're done with the IB class. nthen you don't have to independantly prepare for SAT IIs)
