Just wondering since no one seems to be able to tell me. How does being IB help one get into college? Thanks

College look at IB courses like they would AP courses, but there are some universities that like it when they see IB classes on your transcripts since most IB are harder than AP. But basically, they're AP equivalents with a lot more work and colleges are supposed to know that when they review your application.

Haha! SO TRUE! Yall know it. I'm refering to the title. :}

Uh, Don't bother with the IB PROGRAMME. Take an IB course or two, but I urge you not to do the full programme unless you're... dedicated. Its not worth it unless you plan on going to a school that essentially wets its pants and ejaculates when they encounter an IB student. You can tell this by Srs at your school, how much money or credits they give to IB.

In terms of admissions, top schools (like the Ivys and other schools of the same caliber) expect you to take the most challenging courseload. SO if your school offers the diploma program, then I highly suggest you do it. It helps to some extent in the admissions, but if your school offers it they just expect you to do it.

If you wanna go to an Ivy or someplace like Oxford of American U of Paris, go for the program; but you better plan to have absolutely NO free time and be ready to waste your every breath to the IBDC program. OK that was kind of embellished... sort of... not really... But if you're aiming for a pretty good school that isn't all that impossible take like 3 or 4 courses; it's like meeting them halfway.

I'm doing full IB and I'm about 30 seconds away from killing myself. Or dropping IB. But I won't, because although I'm incredibly book-smart, I have no common sense.

Basically, if IB doesn't get me into Yale, I shall spit on my exams and burn my extended essay on the lawn of the school.

In retrospect, that was harsh. IB is a crapload of work, but it has it's perks. I actually love my extended essay topic (it's not that complicated, but it sounds SO erudite) and we get a lot of our work done in school. I'm just really stressed right now, what with my EE being due in TWO WEEKS! AAAAARGH!
