IB versus AP

I'm dizzy w/ all of the googling about these 2 programs. My daughter wants to attend Stanford or another Ivy League if she doesn't get into Stanford. Which of these programs is better for:
1) Getting acceptance into an Ivy League
2) Getting course credit
3) Better preparing you for the rigors of university curriculum

1) Both. As long as the curriculum is rigorous.
2) AP, by far.
3) Both, maybe IB a little more.

I've done both IB and AP. I got kicked out of IB because I stopped going to class my sophomore year and had a semester GPA of 2.1.....weighted. I did really well Freshman year and all the other years, however, and ended with a 4.4 =).
As far as:
1) Acceptance to Ivy League. Both will do it, but it depends which program is more rigorous at the school. If AP is held more highly than IB at your daughter's school, take AP. If it's IB, take IB.
2) AP, most definitely...assuming she passes the tests.
3) Both are fine, but see #1...whichever one is more rigorous.

more about this subject than you ever wanted to know

In my opinion IB. But it varies from school to school.

AP, but if your D does IB, she can still self study for AP tests if she wants credit. At my school, many of my classes are both AP and IB, so I'm taking both tests. Also, if you are in IB you can still take AP classes, but you can't take IB classes unless you are in the program.

I'd say they're more or less equal. Many IB and AP people I know have told me college (and these are top-tiers mid you) is pretty easy compared to what they did in high school.

1) Neither is better.
2) AP
3) Neither is better.

1, 2, 3) they all suck
