IB vs. AP - Which do Ivy League Schools Prefer?

Do Ivy League schools generally prefer IB or AP? I know many of you will say, “It doesn’t matter as long as you take the most rigorous classes and do well in them,” But honestly, which one gets most students into Ivy League schools? Say you have two students, who take the same extracurriculars, clubs, community service, etc, but one takes AP and the other takes IB (and they have the same grades), which one will most likely get into an Ivy? Many people say “AP gets you to college and IB gets you through college.” Is this generally true?

Is it easier for an AP student to get a 4.8 GPA than an IB student to get a 4.8?

If you have any additional helpful comments, feel free to leave them down below. Thanks.

Whichever one your counselor will mark as the “most demanding” course selection when writing a recommendation for you and which you can get a 4.0 GPA or very close to it (unweighted).

Note that IB programs generally require the student to take a relatively demanding course in each subject (and the workload is reputedly quite high for the amount of material covered), but may be limiting if you are extremely advanced in a particular subject. AP courses can be selected à la carte, so a student need not take one in his/her weakest subject, but can take them before senior year in his/her strongest subject, possibly allowing taking more advanced courses at a local college while still in high school.
