IB all the way! But my school has both, and I have classes that are called IB/AP History of the Americas where the teachers combine coursework from both so that we can take both the tests. Now isn’t that just the most… WONDERFUL… thing??

Actually, I believe the IB Physics has a few multiple choice. But regardless, I agree with Hairband in his/her analysis.

“IB math is rather a joke” by Tokenadult
^^Rofl…This guy is almost hilarious!!^^

IB vs AP, the difference is really derivative. It really depends on the school that you’re in. Really, it’s rather hard to compare the two considering that CCers come from different schools, and thus the difficulty varies.

“As far as I know, IB has no multiple choice at all.”

IB bio, physics, chem have multiple choice in Paper 1.

Lol, as far as I know, it’s hard to get a 7 on HL (extremely hard for math, where the concepts go deeply in expanded concepts and proofs); on the other hand, the ap test is almost a cake. AP calculus is almost a joke in difficulty compared to HL math, because the topics it covers is rather shallow but rich in breadth. Seriously, you can just prep from 4 to 9 weeks intensively and it’s very possible to get 5s, let alone 4s. This is especially true on humanities. Whereas in math and science, preping might need to be longer abit.

ITT: People argue about whose classes were harder, ultimately trying to justify their never getting laid.

I have a question, Im currently in 10th Ib. Is taking IB math studies benefical?

Getting straight 7s on IB (HL) exams > Getting straight 5s on AP exams.

Custardapple101: unless math isn’t a big component of your of major, I would discourage you from taking math studies; even then, I would recommend math sl. To put it into perspective, maths sl covers all of AP calculus AB material indepth, and a little BC. Maths studies basicly covers algebrai II, and some precalculus. If you can, take math HL; as you can get credit from select colleges.

I V: I disagree. The two are separate entities with different objectives. A score of 5 on an AP exam is incomparative to a 7 on an IB exam.

IBAustralia, oh, ok. I had a confusion of what to choose, I was planning of Ib Biology hl. So I might take math as my sl. Thank you.

No problem, anytime.

Ib hl =ap, ib sl < ap

in our school, boys prefer AP while girls prefer IB

It’s more like, IB HL > AP </= IB SL >/= AP.

^^haha, I like your equation much better.:)

I second IBAustralia’s equation

I have a question guys, by taking ap classes along with IB, would colleges like give me a more chance?

Custardapple101: If by “more chance”, you implied more college credit, than they would most probably give you more credit for AP courses and higher level IB subjects-check individual colleges for the IB hl subject score (such as 5,6 or 7), required to earn credit. If, however, you implied a leap in admission by taking AP and IB, as suppose to the Diploma, than I would say not. In fact, you might impress adcoms more if you took the full Diploma and scored well, than taking the certificate. Nevertheless, of course, you could still do well by taking both, and impress adcoms; but i would recommend the taking the Diploma-for its benefits etc…etc…(you know…)
