I don't know what to do. I am a freshman half way finished with my first year of Pre-IB. I am not in any sports here and I am in 1 club. The problem is- I hate it. I miss my old small private school where all my friends are. I would consider going back to it but I'm not sure if I should stick with IB. I want to go into medicine.

The good thing about private school was I was in 2 sports,in which I excelled. I was class president 3 years in a row. I got straight As vs the A,Bs, and Cs in IB. Where as in IB, i didnt have time for sports because I live 30 minutes away from the school. I am not on SGA. If I return to private school, I will have to take some classes with 10th graders which I am willing to do. If I did private school and took college courses at the community college would that be good? Is IB worth it?

I'm a senior completing the IB Diploma at a small private school. I'd be miserable in IB if it weren't for the small classes, sense of community, and (mostly) amazing teachers at my high school; if I had to choose one, I'd go to private school and forget about the IB. It's really not the lifechanging experience that it's promoted as.

If you want to enter the medical field, you should take as many challenging courses as you can including IB/AP courses. If it's a small private school, it probably doesn't offer many AP's. So, if I were you, I would stay in the school you're at now.

You could still do sports. I live about 30 min from my school and I don't have any problem being active in sports or after school activities. If you think you'll have a problem with that, then you can manage your time better.

yeah...I'm an IB senior. I kind of regret taking it...as well as my other classmates. But it wasn't like IB was my only option. I could have gone to a private school or taken AP classes. But noooo.

well its not really time for sports.
i'm not interested in doing sports there. i dont know.
the thing im wondering is- what looks better- Straight As, SGA,sports in a small school with not alot of AP classes but maybe some college courses on the side? Or A,Bs,Cs in IB with not alot of after school activities. I just really miss my old school

There's WAY too much busywork and inconsequential stuff to do -- just take AP instead.

But granted, IB does give you college courses, so if your private school doesn't offer AP stick with IB.

And also keep in mind some schools offer scholarships to people with an IB diploma. Read up on it. (My state school offers full tuition, I think.)

But I've also been to many colleges where I've asked about IB credit and they in turn asked me what IB is. And these aren't your small town colleges. I was shocked.

Yea, IB isn't as well-known or famous as AP is, but it still gets recognition at most of the big universities. Unless the private school Victoria is thinking about going to offers a substantial amount of AP's, then I'd say go for the IB Program.

no The school barely has an AP classes.
I'd be willing to do Duel Enrollment though (Dont know if that would help)
Sighhh i just dont know what to do.

i agree with rightbehind... i love ib, but would be miserable at a school where i couldnt participate in EC's... in terms of colleges, if your not involved in much then they're not really going to care about IB... find the school where you'll be happy, get good grades, excel in EC's and are surrounded by people you like
and even if you dont get credit for dual enrolment, you'll prob. learn more, and itll look good on your app.-- kinda the same thing as IB: maybe you'll get credit, maybe you wont, the credit isnt the point, its about challenging yourself

So I think Im going to transfer back.
I might just take AP tests because the private school doesnt have AP classes.
Any ways on how to get my parents to let me drop IB??
