IB-Would there be interest

I had an intersting conversation with a friend's son over the holidays. He is an engineering major and is interested in possibly applying for IB positions when he graduates. He was contemplating whether he would even get looked at if he applied. He is a senior but will return to complete his degree next fall due to scheduling conflicts with his sport. His stats include a GPA in the 3.60-3.65 range from a top 20 (US News) engineering program, minors in leadership and entreprenuership, 4 year DI athlete in an equivalency sport, several courses in economics, and some accounting.

Any insights to help this young man would be greatly appreciated.

Top 20 US News Engineering program really doesn’t shed enough light.
There are many top engineering programs that are not at all considered to be target schools.

I don’t think you’d be revealing this person’s identity if you just said his school name, but at least identity whether target school or not.

I do not believe it is considered a target school. It is a ‘Big 10’ university.

If it isn’t Michigan or Northwestern, then he will likely have difficulties.

If he played a major sport and is a likable guy who can small talk, then i think he has a shot if he leverages whatever network he has.
