Are IB programs and classes considered better than just AP? I mean, I'm at a public school and by time I graduate, I will have taken 13-14 AP classes. Will someone who'd done IB classes instead have an advantage at highly selective schools?

Yes and no. They won’t have an advantage in college admissions. You’re pretty equal there.

However, when it comes to dealing with college work, I find that most college students that I know who were IB students find work in college much more manageable than those that were AP students.

IB involves much more critical analysis than AP does, not to mention all the IA’s and extended essay and such.

So IB students are better prepared in general in the long run, but not necessarily for admission.

What if that IB school is ranked as the 65th best public school in the country and mine is 103?
