Does Duke make sure to check that we get the IB predicted scores in the actual IB exams? Or does it only consider our final grades?

In other words, if we were to experience decrease in final grades, they may take notice of it but if the IB scores are less than expected, they don't really care? I think I read somewhere that the IB and AP scores are just needed for giving credits to people who want them at college.

It's not like I am intending to slack.. I'm studying really hard at the moment for the IB exams but they are just so DIFFICULT (there are no easy 7s..) and unexpected things can happen so.. yeah..

thanks in advance!

When I discussed a similar topic last time with an admssions officer, I think she said that
some schools don’t send them the predicted marks (my school does send predicted marks), so I guess Duke accepts both: either final IB grades with or without predicted marks.

I’m not an expert at this so I can’t really be a much of help.

But as an IB diploma candidate, I wholeheartedly agree that the IB exams are just so difficult

Edit: wait, do you mean “final grades” as your school transcript, not the Final IB Report? If so, then I think they definitely make sure to check your school transcript…

oh… I thought all schools send IB predicted scores… at least my school does
Ok, then I guess final IB scores don’t REALLY matter then… I’ll just consider them as ‘bonus’ lol

And I meant final school grades… I’m very sure that they check those and I have no problem with them but it’s just those damn IB exams that I was concerned about… :(

I really don’t think your predicted scores carry that much weight to be honest. I personally am in the middle of taking my IB tests and I’m fairly certain that many of my teachers (except maybe history) probably predicted my scores to be way higher than what I’ll actually get. And I think your final scores only matter for 1) getting the IB diploma and 2) getting credit. I doubt Duke will look at them too closely in relation to your predicted scores.

Yeah I don’t think that they matter at all. I’m in full IB too, from a school where at least 14-20 kids each year are accepted to Duke, and our counseling department does not send predicted scores. From what I remember about what the regional admissions officer who came to our school said, was that all they want to see is if you’re an IB Diploma CANDIDATE on your college application. Therefore, technically (in theory), you can bomb all of your exams, never get your IB Diploma, and Duke still wouldn’t find out if you choose not to send your scores.
