ibanking from undergrad question..

Do you need a BA in business? Or could you move into an ibanking firm from a different undergrad degree?

No, you don't need a business degree. Most of the top undergrad schools that are heavily recruited by i-banks (HYPS, etc.) don't even offer BBA's. Econ generally gives you a good enough business-related background. I've also heard that engineers are heavily sought after because of their quantitative background and work ethic.

Computer Science? That is a part of the school of engineering at the university I attend. A friend of mine who also attends this school and is also a Computer Science student told me he plans to work at an ibanking firm out of college. My school is a state school in NY, but it's one of the top science facilities in the country and has a superb computer science program. I still doubted him though, and told him he was crazy..I guess he was right. I always thought to break into ibanking you needed to grad in business management or something.

Financial Analysts work mainly with Excel and Powerpoint, they are the number crunching grunts.. you dont really need a business degree or any degree to do that in terms of just skills.

Couldnt have said it better myself. An Art history major can probably become an ibanker.
