After reading multiple posts about Ibanking this and Ibanking that, I get the feeling that Ibanks recruit from the most prestigious schools first, and then if any positions are left, they may go look at somebody from a not so prestigious school. However, if you attend too obscure of a university, there's no way (even if you have the talent and wherewithal to succeed) you'll even be considered.

It's like, "Everyone, run to the Ivies so you can be an Ibanker and live the life of your dreams!!!!". I'm thinking, man, there must be an inordinate amount of people from New York/Boston on this board. (tic)

Anyways, the way some of you speak, it's as if the Ibanks go to the Ivies ask the students there if they want a job--even if they are complete geeks with no street smarts--then move to the not-so-ivies, pick up some of the ones there but make it more of a competetive environment, then finally, move down the prestige ladder (only because they HAVE to, dang it) holding a big fat "pie in the sky" carrot over the nincompoops' heads until they have filled their staff sufficiently.

The problem with this, is it's BAD business practices, and i would think that Ibanks are a little wiser than that. But who knows, and if they are like this, then I surely would never want to work in this industry! Not only that, but I'm not the type to work 120+ hours a week, and bulldoze clients like I watched Seth Davis do in Boiler Room.

So, is there just one or two reasonable Ibanking people out there who can enlighten the board on how they really recruit?
