Does anyone have any idea whether iBanks recruit actively for undergrads at Dartmouth and Brown as they do at other ivies??

Of course.

hmm...can i have more specific details.. like which ones...is the recruiting as extensive as in MIT,Columbia etc.....

Not quite as much as at HYP, but they definitely recruit there.

okay... thanks for the reply....do you have any recruitment list abt these schools...coz i cant seem to find any on the sites....
So basically even if they recruit less, they would surely take good number for internship right.....
Anyways is Comp Sci + Econ a good major choice for Ibanking...

since we are on the topic of Ibanks....i read on Goldman Sachs site that people who do an MS (in comp Sci, Econ etc) with abt 2 yrs of work experience also get hired directly as associates....
I was wondering whether the work you do in school counts towards work experience (like the Co-op program at Gatech)

anyone??????

bump!!!!!!

come one people! Please answer his question... I know there are a large no. of smart and well-informed people out here...

goldman sachs takes >40 brown seniors a year (they are the #2 employer of brown seniors after the peace corps). jp morgan, morgan stanley also take a few dozen. lehman brothers is also popular.

many of those who apply for these jobs, also apply to consulting firms like mckinsey, bane, etc.--all of which recruit heavily on campus

thanks dcircle that helped a lot.....more than 40 is really impressive....

dcircle, what major are most of these people who go to goldman sachs/jpmorgan/morgan stanley/etc? business? econ?

Dartmouth has great placement with banks, you have to realize though that there simply aren't as many kids wanting to do banking at Dartmouth as there are at Wharton, etc. But I remember looking at a page of HISTORY majors over there and most were getting into banking.

^^ nice...So basically the point is that availability of banking jobs is as good as any other ivy but its just that the students themselves aren't that much interested in going to banking which brings down the number of jobs in banking etc...right

exactly, if you go there with an interest in banking you will have no problem getting a job at a BB as long as your GPA is good. The hot thing a lot of dartmouth kids are after right now is hedge funds, there was an article recently in the NYTimes about it.

ibanks (and consulting firms) take students from every imaginable concentration--from art history majors to pure math majors. it's untrue that they're just looking for econ/business concentrators--the most important qualities to be recruited are a strong GPA and an interesting personality. at the end of the day, the most important thing to them is that you are smart, motivated, and fun to be around.

that being said, a unique concentration at brown that is becoming increasingly popular w/ folks that go this route is called "commerce, organizations, and entrepreneurship". it's a multidisciplinary concentration w/ a liberal arts approach to business and has great programatic support for students who want to do things like intern w/ businesses abroad
