It was my first personal purchase from them, but what all they don't do figures. It would have been simple for them to just tell me they didn't install when I asked if it could be installed.

I'm not the only one who has problems with them. The state of Mississippi got a judgement against them in the area of hundred million when they did not deliver. They live on reputation... that is rapidly fading.

Lenovo shouldnt care about anything because you bought the computer from IBM...I could call hte people who make several of hte Dell models or the alienware laptops and complain, they wouldnt care much either.

$2000 is not a lot for a top end notebook computer. Only a couple years ago, the comparable computer range would have been 3000 and the topend would have almost touched 4000. obviously a desktop is cheaper and if money is an issue I would definately reccomdend building a desktop over a cheap laptop but clearly they wanted a laptop and were willing to spend.

If you choose to ugrade the memory yourself on an IBM (or any other brand), and you later have a problem w/ the computer, unrelated to the memory, will the warranty still be valid? Or will the just say, well you shouldn't have messed w/ our configuration so now it's your problem?

They wont replace the RAM you installed if it goes bad (but it should be covered by its own manufacturer) but they still have to cover the rest of it. It's like if you put new wheels on a car, they still have to cover it. Actually, its more like you put in a new exhaust or suspension and they still have to cover the non-affected systems but stop covering the replaced parts (but they like to be picky about that).
