IBM vs. toshiba vs ibuypower.com

ok here's my dilemma..i saved up about 2,500 dollars and i need a new computer. i am laening towards the laptops because im going to college the fall after next. Also, my current comp. sucks so i need a new one. SOOooo.... should i get a ibm, toshiba, or a notebook from ibuypower.com? any whizzes that can help me out on each and their pro's/con's would be appreciated. thanks in advance...

IBM

for why, I would point you to the search function because there are many many threads (like the IBM vs. Dell thread that is still current) that discuss why IBM laptops are the best.

For your choices I would put them in this order: IBM, then Toshiba not too far behind and iBuyPower in a dead last.

Yeah, with $2500 go with IBM. It's a very good buy.

If you're starting college a year from now (Freshman class '06), you may be better off upgrading your current computer or buying a cheap desktop for $600 or so. That would leave you with around $1900. Save a few bucks during the course of the year and you'll have plenty saved up to buy whatever you need when you start school in '06.

I'd check out every major laptop manufacturer and compare the quality of the systems at that price point

1000 dollar desktop from ibuypower

1500 thin and light laptop from ibm or toshiba

i think that should cover all your computing needs for 4 years!
